Past Chief Mike “Mickey” McDaniel
Next up we have our friend Mike “Mickey” McDaniel. Mike is a 3rd generation fire fighter, following in the footsteps of his grandfather a past member in Toms River Fire Co. 1, and his father, a current Life Member of Toms River Fire Co. 1. He grew up around the firehouse and learned to love it at a very young age. In 2003 at the age of 15 he decided to join our Explorer Post and remained a member there until 2006 when he joined the department as a full member. Mike has been around our department for 18 years and shows no signs of stopping anytime soon. He is currently serving as our Assistant Chief, and has held positions such as Lieutenant, Captain, Assistant Chief, and Chief. He has also been the secretary of the department in the past. Mike is always one of the first people to volunteer to help out with anything going on at the firehouse and puts as much effort as he can give into everything he does. Outside of the firehouse Mike has worked a few jobs in Island Heights, having spent some time working at Dillon’s Creek Marina, and working for Island Heights Department of Public Works. His current occupation is working for the Lakehurst Naval Base as a Logistics Manager for an Aircraft Carrier Program, a job he has been working for 5 years. He has a wonderful Wife of 6 years named Courtney, and a 1 year old son named John. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and friends, going to Island Beach State Park, listening to loud music and playing the drums. Thank you Mike for your service to the Island Heights Vol. Fire Company!
