As many residents in town may have noticed, ice is starting to form over many of our local waterways. The river, and smaller areas around our Marinas are frozen, however it is a VERY thin layer of ice, as we have not had below freezing temperatures for long enough to cause anything other than a thin sheet to form. We cannot stress enough to please STAY OFF THE ICE!! You will fall through immediately into frigid waters if you attempt to walk on the ice. While we pride ourselves on having an excellent ice rescue team in our fire department, our members would rather see everybody take the safest route of avoiding the ice altogether. If you see somebody who has fallen through the ice please call 911 immediately and do not attempt to get them yourself. Stay safe out there and stay warm this winter!
