1st Lt. Rob Hillery
Today we want to recognize member Rob Hillery. Rob has been a member with us for the past 10 years. He joined our fire company back in 2011 due to a strong urge to want to give back to his community and to others who need help. Becoming a fire fighter not only fulfilled his desires to help others, but also helped fulfill his thrill seeker side of life! Rob currently serves as our 1st Lieutenant, and in the past has been both the Secretary and Assistant Secretary in the department. Always striving to be the best, he won the Spike Baron Award, given to the top recruit of the class in the Toms River Fire Academy, when he attended in 2011/2012. His willingness to serve started long before he joined our fire department, as he is a veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps from 1993-1997 retiring from active duty as an E5 Sergeant. Outside of the fire company Rob is a longtime employee for Verizon Fios as a Install and Maintenance Tech. His is engaged to his wonderful fiancé Teresa, and has three kids, RJ, Rachel, and Mason. When not at the firehouse you can find him enjoying family, going to the beach, the shooting range, and raising chickens in his backyard! Thank you for your service to the Island Heights Fire Company, Rob!
